Dial-Up/ADSL Backup

There are many users using dial-up connectivity to connect to the Internet for a variety of reasons with the most frequent that broadband has not been enabled in there area.  The second is for connecting overseas or when travelling, if the latter is the case we urge you to look at iPass, you could significantly reduce your bills whilst increasing your productivity and efficiency to work online.

Dial-up is a means of connecting to the Internet over standard copper wire, until recently this was the only method to connect.  Whilst it is more expensive and considerably slower than the now conventional method it allows you to connect anywhere there is a telephone copper line.

This service can also be used for free to backup your ADSL connection and still be issued the same ip address.

Advantages
Dial-Up does have its advantages even in the year 2008, with broadband you need to purchase a router which can be expensive.  With dial-up the only piece of hardware required is a modem, until recently these were installed freely with computers and required no setup to work once it was told what number to dial and username and password to login with.
Dial-Up will work with telephone lines which broadband my have difficulty receiving the signal sent from the exchange.
Dis-advantages
Dial-Up does have its disadvantages as well, if you use the service to connect all the time you will notice your phone bill becomes expensive.  With Dial-Up you pay for the time connected and not the amount of data sent.
The other disadvantage is the speed experienced, there are methods of increasing Dial-Up such as Onspeed which compresses your pages and allows you to experience 2Mb/s, however dial-up is offered at 52kb/s with the base broadband connections offered at 512kb/s.
