What is needed for Broadband to work? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Dave Brewis

For broadband to work with Internet Central you will need the following:

  • Copper Line For broadband to work you need a piece of wire running from a BT exchange to your premise, this is the copper line on which the broadband service will run on.
  • Micro-filter  This is a small piece of hardware which needs to be plugged in to the bt socket (preferably the master socket, where the line comes into the premise).  The purpose of the micro-filter is to split the broadband signal from the voice.
  • ADSL router A modem/router is required to accept the broadband signal and convert it to a source that can be understood by network hardware and computers.

Internet Central can provide all equipment required except the copper line, this must be installed by a trained BT engineer.  If your voice network is with another provider our broadband service should work, to ensure this before placing the order please phone or email the support department with your specific setup and an engineer will be able to get back to you shortly.
